From Echo Lake to
Barker pass. We walked for miles
With packs on our backs.

Every life has its stories…these are in Haiku.

From Echo Lake to
Barker pass. We walked for miles
With packs on our backs.

Dewy, dawn greetings,
Kissed by the nights crisp, cool air.
We welcome the sun.
We inch closer with
Each step. The pass looming in
The distance. Press on.

Craggy peaks above.
Crystal alpine lakes below.
Lost in the beauty.

For years it beckoned.
Calling from the depths. Here now,
In Desolation.

Towering above.
Yet, at times, invincible.
Caution, moose meadow.
They gather. Darken.
We plead with the clouds. Please don’t
Rain on our parade.
In amongst the trees,
Immersed in nature’s playground.
Just the here and now.

The trill. A flutter.
When spotted, appears to float.
The hummingbird.

Against the backdrop
of an ominous sky. The
rainbow is the gold.
